A flame-retardant compound has a structure represented by formula (2):
(Ar2—O—CO—O—)nA2-X-A1(—O—CO—O—Ar1)m (2)
wherein A1 and A2 each independently represents a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group;
X represents a divalent group represented by —S—, —O—, —CO—, —CN—, —CH2—, —C(CH3)2—, —CH(CH3)—, —NH—, —SO— or —SO2—;
Ar1 and Ar2 each independently represents a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group; and
m and n each independently represents an integer of 1 to 3.
