bonding. For a homologous series of compounds, an increase in the torsional angles between the planar molecular core and the peripheral aryl groups results in a systematic blue shift in the low-energy electronic transitions (7, 523 nm; 8, 505 nm; 9, 445 nm in CHCl(3)) that qualitatively correlates with the shrinkage of effective conjugation through structuraldistortion. Similar spectral shifts could also

The metal-induced intramolecular cyclization reaction of an azo dye was exploited for the colorimetric detection of mercury ions in water. The molecular probe 3 responds selectively to nM-level Hg(II) ions in neutral aqueous solutions.
A reactivity-based fluorescent probe was utilized to selectively detecting Cu2+ in aqueous solution and living cell.

A novel azo derivative sensor (BDAA) based on alkynes was designed and utilized to direct detection of Hg(2+) in aqueous solution and livingcells. The new strategy achieved off to on switchable fluorescence. permits the highly selective and sensitive detection of Hg(2+). This sensor can be used for imaging of Hg(2+) in livingcells.
A facile, efficient synthesis of the novel cinnoline derivative (E)-2,2′-(3-((3-bromophenyl) imino)-5-(tert-butyl)-3H-pyrrolo[3,2,1-ij]cinnoline-2,8-diyl)bis(propan-an-2-ol) (1) is reported. Richter cyclization of an o-ethynenearyldiazonium salt gave the cinnoline derivative which underwent a cyclization reaction to form the unexpected tricyclic compound 1. The absorption and fluorescence properties
