C–H amidation reaction. Upon Ir catalysis, N-benzoyloxyamides serve as efficient substrates to afford 5-membered amides. Mechanistic studies revealed that the generation of a putative Ir–carbonylnitrenoid via N–O bond cleavage is facilitated by the chelation of countercations.
