methyl propiolate and of methyl 3-diethylaminoacrylate has yielded a novel series of 6-unsubstituted 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones. The successie oxidation of the pyrimidine ring, chlorination of the 2-oxo group, and substitution of the chlorine atom by an aromatic amine give previously unknown 2-(arylamino)pyrimidines. 2-Oxo- and 2-(arylamino)pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acids have been obtained.

A simple and effective synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one and 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-thione derivatives has been developed on the basis of three-component condensation of substituted aromatic and heterocyclic aldehydes, methyl acetoacetate, and urea or thiourea in the presence of 10% of an acidic task-specific ionic liquid ([C(4)mim][HSO4]) as catalyst under microwave irradiation in the absence of a solvent. The proposed procedure ensures short reaction times (4.4-8 min) and good yields after purification by recrystallization.
Silica-modified magnetite Fe<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub> nanoparticles grafted with sulfamic acid functional groups: an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1<b><i>H</i></b>)-one and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives
sulfonation of diamine-functionalized propyl group grafted on the magnetic silica-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles. This heterogeneous nanocatalyst was explored to present high catalytic performance for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidinones and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans under mild reaction conditions. The properties of this nanocatalyst were characterized by FT- infrared, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrum
