An efficient protocol for the synthesis of novel hitherto unknown substituted and unsubstituted phenyl pyridyl selenides from dipyridyl/diphenyl diselenides and phenyl/pyridyl halides in the presence of copper catalysed system, Cu 2 O/Mg/bpy is being presented.
