The invention relates to a process for the preparation of dianhydrohexitol bis(4-acryloyloxy)acylate of the general formula 2

in which, in a first step, dianhydrohexitol bisacylate of the general formula 3

is bisacylated using 3-halopropionyl halide, yielding the corresponding dianhydrohexitol bis[3-halopropionyloxy]arylate, and in which, in a further step, two hydrogen halide molecules are cleaved from the dianhydrohexitol bis[3-halopropionyloxy]arylate with the aid of a base.
The invention discloses a multilayer of cholesteric liquid crystal polymer (CLCP), wherein at least two layers of CLCP, differing in at least one optical property, are arranged on top of each other, characterized in that said at least two layers are chemically cross-linked together through the polymer network, such as to mechanically form a unique solid body. Corresponding pigments, coating compositions and there use in security and decorative printing and coating applications are disclosed as well.

Reflective liquid crystalline polymer films having increased bandwidth have a single layer of liquid crystalline material with short, long, and medium pitch of the helical molecular structure of the liquid crystalline polymer. The films are easily produced by a readily reproducible and economic process of low complexity.
