The palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling carbonylinsertionreaction between 3,7-bis(N,N-dimethylamino)-10H-dibenz[b,e]iodinium iodide (1) and alcohols or amines 2 is described. Some new amides and esters 3 containing an active iodo functional group have been prepared in 65-91% yields.

The palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction of 3,7-bis(N,N-dimethyl-amino)- 10H-dibenz [b,e] iodinium iodide with I-alkynes in the presence of carbon monoxide takes place under mild conditions and offers iodine substituted alpha,beta -acetylenic ketone compounds in good yields.

Polyfunctional molecules are prepared by a modified stereoselective Heck-type cross-coupling reaction between iodine heterocyclic compounds and olefins in DMF using Pd(OAc)2 as a catalyst in the presence of bases (Na2CO3 or K2CO3). This coupling reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature and gave coupling products in high yields.
