  -Methylthiophthalimide undergoes a photochemical cycloaddition reaction with 2,3-dimethylbut-2-ene or with stilbene to give products containing a spiro-thietane system; with 1,1-diphenylethene the product isolated is a diphenylmethyleneisoindoline.
