sensing behavior of the polymers for metal ions was investigated by UV–vis, photoluminescence (PL), and PL lifetime measurements. Polymer PL decreased with the addition of metal ions, such as Cu+, Cu2+, Pd2+, Ag+, and Pt2+, while it remained virtually unchanged with the addition of Na+ and Fe3+. The decrease in PL intensity upon the addition of metal ions is most likely caused by polymer aggregation
