Bis(azo-benzene) diamine monomers and a method of synthesizing the monomers are provided. The bis(azo-benzene) diamine monomers, in combination with amine reactive monomers, form polymers, such as polyimides and copolyimides, having photomechanical and thermomechanical properties.

Described herein are polyesters and polyamides which contain repeat units derived from novel dicarboxylic acids comprising arylene groups having ortho ethers substituted thereon. Also disclosed are novel compounds from which these polymers can be made. The polymers are especially useful for molding resins and coatings.

Some amidederivatives are highly valuable products with antiproliferative and cytotoxic bioactivity. In this paper, 12 novelamide compounds were synthesized correspondingly by boc-protection glycine, deprotection, and condensation reactions. the linking positions on the benzenering on properties of PSEA resins was explored. The results show that pmp-PSEA and pop-PSEA resins exhibit lower crystallinity but better processability as compared with ppp-PSEA resin. For the cured PSEA resins, the density increases but the maximum water uptake decreases with the change in the linking position of the benzenering from para-position to meta-position
