We report a new environmentally-benign, convenient, and facile methodology for the synthesis of α-hydroxyphosphonates from an aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehyde with triethylphosphite in the presence of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) under ultrasound-assisted solvent-free conditions.
