A set of acyclic all-carbonα-arylquaternaryaldehydes was synthesized by intermolecularpalladium-catalyzedasymmetricallylicalkylation (Pd-AAA). Hydroxyacrylates were used as unprecedented nucleophilic counterparts instead of widely used ketone substrates. This produced a very rare all-carbonquaternaryaldehyde.
