The reaction of XeF2 with some organo-phosphorus, -arsenic and-iodine compounds is described. The products were identified by fluorine nmr spectroscopy and the conditions under which fluorine exchange occurs were briefly investigated. Organoiodine (III) difluorides are suitable for the conversion of Ph2Te to Ph2TeF2; the decomposition of RIF2liberates IF and fluoroalkane.

The reactions of phenyltellurium(VI) fluorides, PhTeF5, trans-Ph2TeF4 and mer-Ph3TeF3, with alcohols and amines, or their trimethylsilyl derivatives, are described. The products PhTeF4X, Ph2TeF3X and Ph3TeF2X (X=OMe, NMe2, NEt2 were characterized by 19F NMR and isomeric structures are assigned on the basis of their NMR spectra. Samples of trans-Ph2TeF4 contain small amounts of cis-Ph2TeF4.
A series of phenyltellurium(VI) fluorides have been prepared by the oxidative-fluorination of tellurium compounds with xenon difluoride. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, fluorine and tellurium nmr, and mass spectrometry.

Abstract The methyl ester of 3-azidotetrafluoropropionic acid, N3-CF2CF2COOMe oxidatively fluorinates P(III), Sb(III) and Te(II) compounds to form the corresponding difluorides in good yield.
organic tellurium compounds was carried out in the presence of fluoride ions and difluorination occurred at the tellurium atom selectively in excellent yields and with high current efficiencies regardless of their structures. This is the first example of anodic fluorination of tellurides and also that of electrosynthesis of hypervalent tellurides.
