The present invention relates to a method for assessing crystallization values in an emulsion, for example of a photographic stabilizer and/or a photographic coupler. It has been found that the propensity of a dispersion to crystalize is much reduced if the aqueous phase is relatively increased beyond a certain critical level. This effect is more marked if the dispersion is also incubated at about 40oC for 10 - 20 hours.
