    It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel organometallic compound functioning usefully as a chain transfer agent and the like in polymerization reaction of a double-bond containing compound. The present invention provides an organometallic compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a production method thereof. (in the general formula (1), M is a magnesium atom, a zinc atom, an Al—R 11 group, or a Ga—R 11 group; R 1 and R 10 are each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or R 1 and R 10 may be united with each other to form a divalent connecting group (R 101 ) having 4 or more carbon atoms and thus form a ring; R 2 to R 9 are each independently a hydrogen atom, or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; Q 1 and Q 3 are each independently a divalent hydrocarbon group; Q 2 is a divalent connecting group containing a linkage by a heteroatom excluding carbon; h, j, k, m, and p are each independently 0 or 1; n is an integer of 0 to 10; and r is an integer of 0 to 1000.
