PEG (300) was found as an effective medium for the PdCl2-catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling of arylchlorides with various phenylboronic acids. This cross-coupling pathway conveniently and efficiently gave good to excellent yields of corresponding biaryl nucleus under mild conditions.

An air-and moisture-stable monodentate sulfur-ligand was synthesized. The ligand was found to be effective in Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of various aryl halides with arylboronicacidsunderaerobicconditions. A complex of [BMIm] PF6 (1‐Butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate) with PEG1000 has been successfully applied and found to be efficient for Suzuki cross‐coupling and Heckreaction using Pd(OAc)2 as the catalyst under air atmosphere. Moreover, the isolation of the products is readily performed by the extraction of diethyl ether, and the catalytic system reported here can be recycled and reused

Various Pd-catalyzed protocols have been developed for the atom-efficient cross-coupling of chloroarenes with triarylbismuth reagents. Using the developed protocols, an efficient synthesis of unsymmetrical biaryls in good to excellent yields was achieved by employing electron-deficient chloroarenes and a range of triarylbismuth reagents.
