  The problem underlying the present invention is to prepare optical isomers from racemic substituted benzylamines. A racemic substituted benzylamine is mixed in a solvent with an optically active N-acyl-phenylalanine, -aspartic acid, or -glutamic acid, and optically resolved by making use of the difference in the mutual solubilities of the two diastereomer salts which are generated therein.
