Substituted N-(thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-3-yl)acetamides: synthesis, reactions, and biological activity

functionalized 3-(substituted amino)thieno[2,3-b]pyridines bearing azidoacetamide and monothiooxamide fragments have been prepared starting from readily available 2-chloro-N-(thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-3-yl)acetamides. Some of the compounds proved to be strong herbicide antidotes. The key structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction and 2D NMR techniques. Graphic abstract
