    Potential metal chelators containing one or several acyltetronic acid moieties were prepared from cyclic or acyclic amines and polyamines, and from bis(phenols) by reaction with 1-4 equiv of 3-bromoacetyltetronic acid in the presence of potassium carbonate. The affinity constants of the chelating agents for toxic metallic cations Cd2+, Cs+, and Pb2+ and for dimethylarsinic acid were measured, at pH 7.5 and 9.3. Compound 4, an acyclic triamine containing four acyltetronic moieties, was found to complex efficiently all the tested species. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    mononuclear and macrocyclic dinuclear silver(I) complexes of ligands derived from the Schiff base condensation of N, N-bis(2-aminoalkyl)-2-phenylethylamines with 2,6-diacetylpyridine are reported and discussed. It is noted that changing the 2-aminoalkyl groups of the alkylamines from ethyl to n-propyl provides a change from an acyclic mononuclear silver(I) compound to a macrocyclic dinuclear silver(I) compound

    Methods of cleaning waxy, oily and/or greasy soils, including lipsticks and lip gloss, are disclosed. Methods of removing lipstick and lip gloss stains in warewash and laundry applications are disclosed through application of cleaning compositions comprising long chain polyamines, namely C6-C20 polyamines having between 1 and 5 nitrogens. In some aspects alkaline cleaning compositions comprise sodium hydroxide detergents and a C6-C20 polyamines such as N1-(3-aminopropyl)-N3-dodecylpropane-1,3,diamine) and/or N1,N1,N3-tris(3-aminopropyl)-N3-dodecylpropane-1,3-diamine.
