The preset invention relates to a latex particle for a measurement reagent including a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing a monomer mixture containing the following polymerizable monomers (a) to (c): (a) a polymerizable monomer having a phenyl group; (b) a polymerizable monomer having a phenyl group and a sulfonate; and (c) a polymerizable monomer having a naphthyl group, in an aqueous medium containing 7.5 to 25% by weight of C1-4 alcohol without using a surfactant.

    Latex particles for a particle agglutination assay, with which it is possible to carry out high-sensitivity assay while highly suppressing a non-specific reaction are disclosed. The latex particles being obtained by emulsion polymerization with a polymerizable monomer having a phenyl group, and a polymerizable monomer having a phenyl group and a sulfonate in an aqueous medium including a nonionic surfactant at a concentration of 0.005 to 0.02 wt% based on the aqueous medium, the latex particles having an average particle size of 0.005 to 1.0 µm.

    A latex particle for high-sensitive agglutination assay and a reagent for agglutination assay including the particle are provided. The latex particle barely initiates non-specific reactions and can readily prepare diagnostic agents. A latex particle for agglutination assay including a polymerizable monomer having a phenyl group, a polymerizable monomer having a phenyl group and a salt of sulfonic acid, and a polymerizable monomer represented by Formula (1):         CH2=CR1-COO (CH2CH2O)n-R2     (1) where R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and n is 1≤n<20, wherein the density of functional groups derived from the polymerizable monomer represented by Formula (1) on the surface of the particle is 0.05 to 0.5 µmol/m2.

    To provide a novel technique with which the generation of aggregates over time in a dispersion liquid can be suppressed and a target substance can be detected with high sensitivity even if latex particles that have been stored are used. A method for storing in a container a latex particle dispersion liquid in which latex particles for an extracorporeal diagnostic agent are dispersed, the latex particles having a volume average particle size of 10 to 1000 nm and including a polymer containing 70 to 100% by mass of monomer units each derived from a monomer having an aryl group relative to the total monomer units, which is characterized in that the particle dispersion liquid is stored in the container by setting a ratio of a volume of a void space obtained by excluding a volume occupied by the particle dispersion liquid from an internal volume of the container to 0 to 25% (v/v) relative to the internal volume of the container.
