Reaction of dipeptides with N-bromosuccinimide results in selective α-bromination of glycine residues. Subsequent reactions of brominated peptides with diethyl malonate and allyltributyltin afford the diethyl malonyl- and allyl-substituted glycine derivatives, respectively.
