(±)-1-(1-Isoquinolinyl)-1-(2-pyridyl)ethanol has been prepared and the two enantiomers have been resolved by derivatization with a chiral isocyanate followed by a chromatographic separation. The relative configurations of the diastereomers are discussed in relation to their chromatographic behaviour and NMR spectral data.
