    Chemical behavior of 1,6,7-trisubstituted 2-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolinium 2-methylides 4 was investigated in fluoride-ion induced desilylation reaction of 1,6,7-trisubstituted 2-methyl-2-(trimethylsilyl)-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolinium iodides 3. The 1-nonsubstituted (4a,b) and 1-alkyl-substituted ylides (4c,d) gave mixtures of five products (7-11), but the 1-phenyl-substituted analogues (4e,f) yielded (E)- and (Z)-2,3-disubstituted 5-benzylidene-1,3-cyclohexadiene-6-spiro-3'-1'-methylpyrrolidines (E)-5 and (Z)-5 and 7,8-disubstituted 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepines 6. The mechanisms of the rearrangement are discussed.

    A method for producing a modified conjugated diene polymer comprising a polymerization step of obtaining a conjugated diene polymer containing a nitrogen atom in a polymer chain and an active end by copolymerizing a conjugated diene compound and a nitrogen atom-containing vinyl compound, or a conjugated diene compound, an aromatic vinyl compound and a nitrogen atom-containing vinyl compound by use of an alkali metal compound and/or an alkaline earth metal compound as a polymerization initiator, and a modification step of reacting a modifier, which is a compound represented by the following formula (1), with the active end of the conjugated diene polymer: where R1 to R4 each independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms; R5 represents an alkylene group having 3 to 10 carbon atoms; R6 represents an alkylene group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; m is an integer of 1 or 2; and n is an integer of 2 or 3.

    An object of the invention of the present application is to provide an adhesive composition excellent in tackiness, tack strength, retentivity and coating property. The adhesive composition according to the invention of the present application contains a block copolymer (a) having a block mainly comprising a vinyl aromatic monomer unit, a tackifier (b) and an oil (c), in which the block copolymer (a) contains a partially hydrogenated block copolymer (a-1), the partially hydrogenated block copolymer (a-1) has a vinyl aromatic monomer unit and a conjugated diene monomer unit, the content of the vinyl aromatic monomer unit is 10 mass% or more and 19 mass% or less based on 100 mass% of the partially hydrogenated block copolymer (a-1), and the hydrogenation ratio of double bonds contained in the conjugated diene monomer unit in the partially hydrogenated block copolymer (a-1) is 15 mol% or more and less than 80 mol% based on the total (amount) of double bonds before hydrogenation.
