  A compound having 5-HT 1A receptor activity, represented by the chemical formula wherein: Ar is 2-methoxyphenyl, 1 H-indol-4-yl or 2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-5-yl; R 1 is 2-, 3- or 4-pyridyl; R 2 is H or C 1-6 alkyl; R 3 is H or C 1-6 alkyl; and R 4 is H or methyl, or an optical isomer thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of such a compound or optical isomer.
