This invention relates to novel benzamidine derivatives of formula (I) that are found to be potent modulators of potassium channels and, as such, are valuable candidates for the treatment of diseases or disorders as diverse as those which are responsive to the modulation of potassium channels. A stereoisomer or a mixture of its stereoisomers, or an N-oxide thereof, or a pharmaceutically-acceptable addition salt thereof, wherein B may be absent (i.e. no heterocyclic ring is formed); and when absent, the nitrogen next to B holds a hydrogen (i.e. “NH”), and A represents NH
