  4-Phenyl-2,6-dimethylaniline has been prepared in a variety of ways. Oxidation by the peroxidase system gives 4,4′-diphenyl-2,6,2′,6′-tetramethylazobenzene and p-benzoquinone-4-(4′-phenyl-2′,6′-dimethylanil. A mechanism is proposed for this unusual reaction.
