  Electrochemical carboxylation of (1-bromo-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)arenes resulted in an efficient fixation of carbon dioxide to give the corresponding 2-aryl-3,3,3-trifluoropropanoic acids in good yields, and the present reactions were successfully applied to the synthesis of beta,beta,beta-trifluorinated non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
