    The present invention relates to thioesters having the structural formula: wherein Rx is selected from the group of formulae consisting of: R¹, R² and R³ are independently selected from the group of radicals consisting of hydrogen or methyl; R⁴ and R⁵ are independently selected from the group of radicals consisting of hydrogen, alkyls having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, aryls having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, aralkyls having 7 to 9 carbon atoms, and radicals of the formula: and R⁶ is selected from the group of radicals consisting of alkyls having 1 to 24 carbon atoms, aryls having 6 to 12 carbon atoms and aralkyls having 7 to 12 carbon atoms. These thioesters are particularly useful as a synergist for conventional phenolic and amine antioxidants.

    The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire sidewall and to elastomeric compositions useful therefor. The elastomeric compositions are comprised of: (a) natural rubber, polybutadiene, or mixtures thereof; (b) from about 1.0 to 5.0 phr of a precipitated silica filler having a BET surface area of between 100 and 250 square meters per gram and a pH of from 4.0 to 6.5; (c) from about 1.5 to 10.0 phr of an antidegradant selected from the group consisting of amines, phenolics and mixtures thereof.

    A psoriasis treatment composition derived from the plant Asphodelus Microcarpus includes 3-methylanthralin, chrysophanol, aloe-emodin, aloe-emodin monoacetate, and/or derivatives thereof. The composition is prepared by extracting a liquid from the Asphodelus Microcarpus root and mixing the liquid with acetic acid. A method of treatment includes applying the composition to an affected area of skin at a frequency sufficient to effect an alleviation of symptoms, typically once per day for 14-56 days.
