The present invention relates to novel vanilloid receptor ligands, to a process for the production thereof, to pharmaceutical preparations containing these compounds and to the use of these compounds for the production of pharmaceutical preparations.

1-Benzoyl-3-substituted ureas of the formula
wherein each R is independently selected from the group consisting of H, Br, Cl, F, CH3 or OCH3, with the proviso that R cannot simultaneously represent more than one hydrogen atom, and with the further proviso that when one R moiety represents hydrogen the other R moiety cannot simultaneously represent OCH3; X = 0 or S; and R1 is independently selected from the group consisting of a substituted 3-isoxazolyl, a substituted 5-isoxazolyl and a substituted 3-benzisoxazolyl, have been found useful as insecticides. The compounds are prepared by reacting the appropriate ben- zovl isocvanate or benzoyl isothiocyanate of the formula
