  (EN) Zirconium phosphate-type intercalates having a reduced intercalant density may be prepared by producing a zirconium phosphate type intercalate in which the intercalant species are bonded to the matrix via differentially breakable bonds and treating the intercalate to break the more easily breakable bonds and to remove a proportion of the intercalant. The intercalant may be bonded via a mixture of phosphate and phosphonate or phosphite bonds and that bonded via the phosphate bonds may be removed by preferential hydrolysis of those bonds. The intercalate so produced may be used as an adsorbent to remove impurities from edible oils.(FR) Des éléments à intercalation du type phosphate de zirconium et présentant une densité de matière intercalaire réduite peuvent être préparés lorsqu'on produit un élément à intercalation du type de phosphate de zirconium dans lequel les espèces intercalaires sont liées à la matrice par l'intermédiaire de liaisons pouvant être rompues de manière différentielle et lorsqu'on traite l'élément à intercalation de façon à rompre les liaisons pouvant être le plus facilement rompues et à enlever une proportion de la matière intercalaire.
