    Organic amide compounds of the formula: wherein: R1-CO is a residue of a carboxylic acid with the proviso that the carboxylic acid is not a natural fatty acid normally bound to nitrogen of nitrogenous lipids, R1 is a hydrogen atom, a C1-7 alkyl group, or a C4-7 cycloalkyl group, and R3-N is a residue of a nitrogenous lipid. The compounds are useful in increasing or stimulating the in vivo biological activity of in vitro biologically active carboxylic acids.

    The invention relates to a method for preparing inner ester ganglioside derivates which comprises: (a) dissolving a ganglioside or a mixture of gangliosides obtained from a mammal in a non-aqueous organic solvent; (b) converting the carboxylate groups in the gangliosides to carboxyl groups or a salt thereof by means of ion exchange; and (c) reacting the resultant ganglioside or mixture of gangliosides with a lactonization reagent to form at least one lactonic bond in said inner ester ganglioside derivatives.

    A terminal-modified block copolymer wherein an amino group- or amino group-containing, terminal-treating agent is bound to the terminals of the polymer. It is obtained by reacting the active terminals of a block copolymer of a conjugated diene with a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon comprising 5 to 95 % of a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon and having a number- average molecular weight of 5,000 to 1,000,000 (obtained by using at least one member selected from among alkali metals and organic alkali metal compounds as a polymerization initiator) with at least one terminal-treating agent selected from among imide compounds, cyanamide compounds, aziridinyl compounds, amide compounds, and other tertiary amino group-containing compounds. A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition excellent in adhesiveness and anti-creeping properties comprising said block copolymer and a tackifying resin, a water-absorbing composition comprising said block copolymer and a highly water-absorbing resin, a thermoplastic resin composition comprising said block copolymer and a thermoplastic resin, and a conductive composition comprising said block copolymer and a conductive material are also disclosed.
