The present invention relates to various compounds of the formula I,
where
X is OH, O, NOH, NH₂, loweralkylamino, cycloalkylamino,
arylloweralkylamino or arylamino;
R₁ is H, loweralkylcarbonyl, arylcarbonyl, arylloweralkylcarbonyl, loweralkyl or arylloweralkyl;
R₂ is hydrogen, loweralkyl, cycloalkyl, arylloweralkyl, aryl; and R₃ when present is hydrogen, loweralkyl, cycloalkyl, arylloweralkyl or aryl with the proviso that, if X is OH or NH₂, R₁, R₂ and R₃ may not all be hydrogen;
and if X = O, R₂ may not be hydrogen and R₁ may not be 2,2-dimethylpropionyl;
and a process for their preparation.
The compounds of the invention are useful for the treatment of various memory dysfunctions characterized by a cholinergic deficit such as Alzheimer's disease, as topical antiinflammatory agents for the treatment of various dermatoses and also as analgesic agents.
