    Synthesis of N -substituted 4-hydroxynaphthalimides using palladium-catalysed hydroxylation
    摘要:
    Successful implementation of a palladium-mediated hydroxylation of N-substituted 4-chloro-1,8-naphthalimides has been achieved. The methodology detailed herein utilises 4-chloro-1,8-naphthalic anhydride as a starting point and implements the catalyst/ligand combination of Pd(OAc)(2)/t-BuXPhos; all of which are relatively inexpensive. A range of imide substituents tolerated the reaction conditions, including acid sensitive substrates which are not compatible with other existing methodology. As such this approach is not only complimentary to existing procedures, it presents a more direct alternative to accessing 4-hydroxy-1,8-naphthalimides. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    The synthesis, sensor activity, and logic behavior of a novel 4-iminoamido-1,8-naphthalimide bichromophoric system based on a “fluorophore-receptor” architecture with ICT chemosensing properties is reported. The synthesized compound showed good colorimetric and fluorescence signaling properties as a function of pH and proved itself as a promising probe for the rapid detection of pH in an aqueous solution and base vapors in a solid state. The novel dyad is able to work as a two-input logic gate with chemical inputs H+ (Input 1) and HO− (Input 2) executing INHIBIT logic gate. The synthesized bichromophoric system and the corresponding intermediates demonstrated good antibacterial activity toward Gram (+) and Gram (−) bacteria when compared with the Gentamycin standard.

    A class of predominantly hydrophilic 1,8-naphthalimide dyes. The dye contains at least two 1,8-naphthalimide ring systems, joined by a spacer moiety. Each of the 1,8-naphthalimide ring system has a ring nitrogen atom and bears, at the 4 position, an amino nitrogen atom, carrying a hydrogen. The remaining unsatisfied valences, if present, of the ring nitrogen atoms or the amino nitrogen atoms, or all, are occupied by one or more alkyl substituents. Each of the 1,8-naphthalimide ring system is free of an azo substituent and is also free of a nucleofuge. Upon activation by an activating agent in an environment independent of the presence or absence of oxygen, these compounds generate activated species. The activated species can cause structural changes in lipid and any associated proteins and polypeptides, extra- or intra-cellular or transmembrane, leading to polymerization and crosslinking.

    Fluorescent monomers are described and claimed which are synthesized by reacting a substituted or non-substituted naphthalic anhydride with an amine and with a moiety containing a polymerizable group. Such monomers are useful for the preparation of tagged treatment polymers. Such tagged treatment polymers are useful as scale inhibitors in industrial water systems.

    (EN) A class of predominantly hydrophobic non-azo N-substituted 1,8-naphthalimide compounds, each bearing, at its 3-position, a nucleofuge and, at its 4-position, a heteroatomic electron-releasing group. The heteroatomic electron-releasing group is being characterized as having a heteroatom directly linked to the 4-position of the ring, and having at least one hydrogen directly attached to the heteroatom. Upon activation by an activating agent in an environment independent of the presence or absence of oxygen, these compounds generate activated species. The activated species initiate chemical changes in lipid bilayer membranes of viruses and other target cells. These changes can eradicate viruses and other target cells. The activated species can also cause structural changes in lipid and any associated proteins and polypeptides at a level beneath the surface of the membrane, leading to polymerization and crosslinking.(FR) Classe de composés non azoïques de 1,8-naphtalimide N-substitué à prédominance hydrophobe, portant chacun, sur sa position 3, un élément nucléofuge et, sur sa position 4, un groupe hétéroatomique de libération d'électrons.
