    This inventive thickener or gellant for oil materials is characterized by comprising (A) an high molecular weight organopolysiloxane that has a polyglycerol structure-containing hydrophilic group Q and that is represented by the following structural formula (1): R 3-q (R 11 ) q Si—O—(SiR 11 2 —O) n1 —(SiR 11 Q-O) n2 —(SiR 11 L-O) n3 —Si(R) 11 ) q R 3-q wherein R 11 is a monovalent hydrocarbyl group or a hydrogen atom; L is a chain organosiloxane group, n1, n2, and n3 are numbers in the ranges 200≦n1≦1000, 0≦n2≦20, and 0≦n3≦50; R is a group selected from L and Q; q is an integer in the range from 0 to 3; wherein when n2=0, q is an integer in the range from 1 to 3 and at least one R is Q. The thickener or gellant exhibits an excellent compatibility with a variety of oil systems.

    A fabric treatment composition contains at least a detergent active material, a fabric softening agent and 0.5 to 3% a nonionic substituted cellulose ether derivative which has an HLB of 3.1 to 4.3 and a gel point of less than 58°C, which improve softening performances on cotton while controlling deposition on synthetic fabrics. Ethyl, hydroxyethyl or methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose ethers are preferred. The detergent active material is anionic or a mixture thereof with other detergent active materials and may be present at 2 to 50% of the composition. The softening agent may be soap, a cationic material, a fatty amine and/or a clay with a soap/cationic mixture being preferred, and may be present at 0.5 to 50% of the composition.

    Disclosed are dryer-added fabric conditioning articles and methods utilizing alkyl amine-anionic surfactant ion-pair complexes as fabric conditioning agents. Optionally, these compositions can contain polymeric soil realease agents and the fabric softeners. In the method aspect of the invention, damp fabrics are commingled with the conditioner active and optional components in an automatic laundry dryer and are provided with a soft, antistatic finish concurrently with the drying operation. The fabric conditioning agents herein are preferably employed in combination with a dispensing means adapted for use in an automatic dryer.
