2-b]thiopyran-3-carbodithioic acids (2) reacted with 2-norbornene, dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate, diethyl azodicarboxylate, N-phenylmaleimide, dimethyl fumarate, 2-chloroacrylonitrile, methyl acrylate, and styrene in refluxing benzene to give the [4+2]cycloadducts, while the thermal cycloaddition reaction of O-methyl esters of 2-substituted 5,6-dihydro-2H-naphtho[1,2-b]thiopyran-3-carbothioic acids (3) was
