    Synthesis and spectroscopic analysis of substituted 2-aminothiazolines

    2-Aminothiazolines can exist in two tautomeric species, amino and imino forms, which can theoretically exist as two stereoisomers. Several methods and techniques have been used to evaluate tautomeric process, but in this case N-15 NMR spectroscopy was used due to tautomeric process involves two nitrogen atoms. In this paper, we present the synthesis and a HMBC H-1-N-15 study of four 2-substituted aminothiazolines. It was observed from HMBC contour plot correlation between five membered ring CH2 groups with sp(2) nitrogen around 250 ppm, while aliphatic hydrogen correlates with sp(3) nitrogen around 90 ppm, suggesting that amino form is the major or the unique tautomer present in solution. Theoretical calculations at the M06-2X/cc-pVDZ level were performed and indicated that amino tautomer is slightly more stable (similar to 1 kcal mol(-1)) than imino one. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V.     The lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engines of the present invention contains a base oil, a thioheterocyclic compound represented by the following formula (I) (wherein As represents a thioheterocycle; each of R1 and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an amino group, a C1 to C50 hydrocarbyl group selected from among an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group, and an aryl group, or, in the case of a hydrocarbyl group, a C1 to C50 heteroatom-containing group having an atom selected from among an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, and a sulfur atom, in the hydrocarbyl group; and each of k, l, m, and n is an integer of 0 to 5), and an aminoalcohol compound having, in the molecule thereof, one or more amino groups and one or more hydroxyl groups, wherein the composition has a phosphorus content (P mass%) and a sulfated ash content (M mass%), based on the total amount of the composition, satisfying any of the following conditions A to C: condition A: P < 0.03, and M < 0.3; condition B: P < 0.03, and 0.3 ≤ M ≤ 0.6; and condition C: 0.03 ≤ P ≤ 0.06, and M < 0.3. The lubricating oil composition of the present invention can considerably reduce the amounts of phosphorus-containing additives and a metallic detergent, while high-temperature detergency and wear resistance are maintained.

    The invention provides a lubricating oil composition for an engine made of aluminum alloy containing a base oil, a succinimide compound, and a thioheterocyclic compound represented by the following formula (I) and has a sulfur content of 0.10 mass% to 1.00 mass% based on the total amount of the composition, and a phosphorus content and a sulfated ash content, based on the total amount of the composition, falling within specific ranges, and a lubrication method employing the composition. The composition exhibits excellent wear resistance to aluminum alloy sliding parts of engines and can considerably reduce the high-phosphorus ZnDTP content and the metallic detergent content, while excellent wear resistance to aluminum alloy is maintained. The thioheterocyclic compound is represented by the formula: (wherein As represents a thioheterocycle; each of R1 and R2 independently represents a hydrogen atom, an amino group, a C1 to C50 hydrocarbyl group selected from among an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group, and an aryl group, or, in the case of a hydrocarbyl group, a C1 to C50 heteroatom-containing group having an atom selected from among an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, and a sulfur atom, in the hydrocarbyl group; and each of k, l, m, and n is an integer of 0 to 5).
