Preferred in this context are edelfosine and miltefosine. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the present invention relates to the use of miltefosine for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment, prevention and/or amelioration of allergic diseases, in particular acute hyperallergic diseases, like asthma.
