exclusively a stable monomeric ozonide in a pure crystalline state. Reduction of the ozonide afforded the corresponding dialdehyde, diol, and lactone by treatment with triphenylphosphine, lithium aluminium hydride, and sodium sulfite, respectively. Photo-irradiation of the ozonide converted it into an acid anhydride. The corresponding aldehyde acid was obtained by pyrolysis of the ozonide.
