The reactions of [Pd(Hdmpz)(4)](OOCR)(2) (R = Me, Bu (t) , Ph, Hdmpz = 3,5-dimethylpyrazole) with the heterometallic acetate Pd(mu-OOCMe)(4)Co(NCMe) gives pyrazolate-bridged dimers Pd-2(mu-dmpz)(2)(Hdmpz)(2)(OOCR)(2) (R = Me, Bu (t) , Ph), which were characterized by X-ray diffraction.

The kinetics of reactions of palladium(II) acetate with cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) acetates were studied by spectrophotometry. These reactions produce heterobimetallic complexes PdII(μ-OOCMe)4MII(OH2)(HOOCMe)2, where M = Co, Ni, or Cu. These reactions are very slow in carefully dehydrated (<0.01% H2O) acetic acid, but are considerably enhanced by water or acetonitrile. Our data indicate

The lantern complex Pd-11(mu-OOCMe)(4)CO11(NCMe) (1) was transformed into the pentanuclear double-lantern acetate-bridged heterobimetallic complex [Pd(mu-OOCMe)(4)Co](2)( mu-OOCMe)(2)Pd(py)(2) (py is pyridine) (2) by two routes: (i) reaction of I with pyridine and (ii) reaction of 1 with trans-Pd(py)(2)(OOCMe)(2)-Complex 2 x 3C(6)H(6) was characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, DTA-TG and magnetic susceptibility data.
