convenient method for synthesis of modified oligonucleotides by use of new non-nucleoside phosphoramidites is reported. A chiral 1,3-diol backbone of the modifying reagents is generated either from (R)-(+)-α-hydroxy-γ-butyrolactone or (R)-(−)-pantolactone.
