A high purity naphthalene dicarboxylic acid (NDCA) is easily and rapidly produced from a dialkylester of naphthalene dicarboxylic acid.
NDCA dialkylester is reacted within a temperature range of 70-350°C in a solvent inclusive of a monocarboxylic acid containing no unsaturated bond group and having a carbon number of 1-10 in the presence of an esterification catalyst. Thereafter, solid-liquid separation is carried out to obtain a high purity naphthalene dicarboxylic acid.
