A Pd(II)-catalyzed, selective δ-C(sp3)–H and δ-C(sp2)–H arylation method for free primary aliphatic amines using NH2 as a native directing group has been developed. A variety of free primary amines with adjacent quaternary centers and/or with alpha esters react with a diverse range of aryl and heteroaryl iodides to provide δ-aryl and δ-heteroaryl amines.
