Previously unknown 3,3-dimethyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydroimidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiazasilole and its zwitterionic derivatives containing five-coordinate silicon atom, namely 7-substituted 3,3-dimethyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydroimidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiazasilol-4-ium chlorides, have been synthesized by reaction of 1,3-bis-(trimethylsilyl)tetrahydroimidazole-2-thione with chloro(chloromethyl)dimethyl silane and subsequent transformations of the products.
