The present invention relates to certain fluorophor compounds and a method of detecting a phosphorylated peptide or phosphorylated polypeptide using the same. Furthermore, a method of detecting and differentiating phosphorylated and unphosphorylated peptides or polypeptides is described. A kit and a diagnostic composition comprising the fluorophor compounds as well as a method of diagnosing a disease are also disclosed.

A process for production of 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) is provided. The process comprises reacting a compound having a formula of R1OOC(CHOH)4COOR2, wherein R1 and R2 are selected from the group consisting of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, hydrogen, alkyl, and aryl group, with an acid in a polar solvent or a mixture of polar solvents to form a mixture comprising FDCA, wherein the polar solvent does not react with the acid. A process for the production of FDCA comprising reacting the compound with an acid in water in the presence of an additive to form FDCA is also provided.
