  C₂-symmetrical bis(oxazoline) ligands bearing pendant alkylthio ether groups were synthesized, and the structures of Cu complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The potential utility in catalysis was shown in the asymmetric addition of methyllithium to an aromatic aldimine, which resulted in a mixture of products with an enantiomeric excess of 68%.Key words: two-center catalysis, bis(oxazoline), aldimine, imine alkylation.

  A new type of chiral sulfonium salts that are characterized by a bicyclic system has been designed and synthesized from α‐amino acids. Their corresponding ylides, which were prepared by basic treatment of the sulfonium salts, reacted smoothly with a broad array of simple and chiral aldehydes to provide trans‐epoxy amides in reasonable to very good yields and excellent stereoselectivities (>98 %).   A series of thiophene mono (oxazoline) N,O-ligands with three sites of diversity were synthesized concisely in two steps from the corresponding thiophene carbonitriles. These ligands were applied to the enantioselective phenyl transfer reaction of aldehydes, resulting in the corresponding chiral diaryl methanol products with excellent yields and moderate to good enantioselectivities.

  Sulfides tethered to oxazolines function as effective ligands for palladium catalysed allylic substitution, affording good to excellent levels of enantioselectivity (56 to >96% ee). Both the tether length between the nitrogen and sulfur atoms and also the nature of the sulfide have been shown to affect the performance of these ligands.
