Abstract : Bis(trifluoromethyl)thiophosphinic acid, (CF3)2P(S)OH, has been prepared by the reaction of concentrated sulfuric acid with salts of the acid. The new moderately strong monothio acid is stable in aqueous solution but yields 1 mol of CF3H per mole of acid upon alkaline hydrolysis.
