    Electrical cable having at least one conducting element, at least one polyolefin-based insulating covering layer, in which said insulating covering layer has at least one voltage stabilizer, said voltage stabilizer being a benzophenone substituted with at least one group selected from alkyl, arylalkyl and alkylaryl wherein said group: a) is linked to a phenyl ring of the benzophenone directly or via an oxygen bridge (—O—); b) contains, optionally, one or more oxygen bridges (—O—); and c) is optionally linked to a phenyl ring of at least one or other benzophenone group, provided that when said at least one group is an alkyl, optionally substituted, the carbon atom of said alkyl which is directly linked to a phenyl ring of said benzophenone is tertiary. A polyolefin-based insulating composition having at least one voltage stabilizer as described above.

    A solid polymeric composition comprising a polymerizate of a polyol (allyl carbonate), fragments of aromatic peroxide initiator, and an effective amount of a 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxy benzophenone. A method of polymerizing a polyol (allyl carbonate) monomer comprising: a) forming a composition comprising polyol (allyl carbonate) monomer and aromatic peroxide initiator; and b) initiating polymerization; characterized in that the composition initially contains up to 0.01 mole of original aromatic peroxide initiator per equivalent of polyol (allyl carbonate) monomer and an effective amount of a 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxy benzophenone. A method of reducing ultraviolet induced yellowing of aromatic peroxide initiated poly [polyol (allyl carbonate)] comprising: a) maintaining the level of original aromatic peroxide initiator up to about 0.01 mole per equivalent of polyol (allyl carbonate) monomer; and b) providing an effective amount of a 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxy benzophenone in the polyol (allyl carbonate) monomer. A method of reducing yellowing of aromatic peroxide initiated poly [polyol (allyl carbonate) comprising: a) maintaining the level of original aromatic peroxide initiator up to 0.01 mole per equivalent of polyol (allyl carbonate) monomer and providing an effective amount of a 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxy benzophenone; b) polymerizing the polyol (allyl carbonate) to form a solid polymerizate; and c) continuing the polymerization above 100 degrees Centigrade and low enough to avoid thermal degradation induced yellowness.

    A UV stabilized thermoplastic polyester molding composition characterized as containing a polyester and a UV light stabilizing system characterized as an effective amount of a hindered amine, a benzotriazole or benzophenone compound, and an antioxidant to achieve acceptable UV exposure results when the composition is exposed in a Xenon arc weatherometer operated according to SAE J1885. The composition and molded parts therefrom exhibit improved color difference, as calculated in CIELab units under illumination "D-65" according to ASTM Standard D-2244, of less than about 2.20 when exposed to 601.6 kJ/m2 irradiation, and improved surface gloss retention characteristics after exposure.
