  A 2-amino-trifluoromethyl-halogenopyridine compound is characterised by the formula (I): wherein either X or Y is a trifluoromethyl group, and at least one of X, Y and Z is a halogen atom, with the remainder being a halogen atom or a hydrogen atom. The compound of formula (I) is prepard by amination of a 2-halogenotrifluoromethyl-halogenopyridine or by halogenation of 2-amino- trifluoromethylpyridine and is useful as an intermediate for synthesis of agricultural chemicals and medicines.
