    The present invention refers to a continuos process for the epoxidation of olefins with hydrogen peroxide in presence of a heterogeneous catalyst promoting the epoxidation reaction, whereby the aqueous reaction mixture comprises: i) an olefin; ii) hydrogen peroxide; iii) less than 100 wppm of alkali metals, earth alkali metals, both irrespective whether in ionic, complex or covalently bonded form, bases or cations of bases having a pkB of less than 4.5, or combinations thereof; and iv) at least 100 wppm of bases or cations of bases having a pkB of at least 4.5 or combinations thereof, whereby the wppm are based on the total weight of hydrogen peroxide in the reaction mixture.

    In aprocess for the epoxidation ofan olefin by continuously reacting the olefinwith hydrogen peroxidein a methanol solvent on a fixed bed epoxidation catalyst comprising a titanium zeolite, the hydrogen peroxide is used as an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution made by an anthraquinone process, the aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution is mixed with methanol to give a feed mixture and this feed mixture is filtered before being contacted with the fixed bed epoxidation catalyst.

    The present invention refers to an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution comprising: i) less than 50 wppm alkali metals, alkaline earth metals or combinations thereof in total, irrespective whether the alkali or alkaline earth metals are present in cationic or complex form; ii) less than 50 wppm of amines having a pkB of less than 4.5 or the corresponding protonated compounds in total; and iii) at least 100 wppm anions or compounds that can dissociate to form anions in total, whereby the wppm are based on the weight of hydrogen peroxide and the concentration of hydrogen peroxide is more than 50 % by weight based on the total weight of the hydrogen peroxide solution, a process for preparation of said hydrogen peroxide solution and the use of said solution in a process for epoxidation of olefins.

    The process for preparing 1,2-propanediol comprises a step of dehydrogenating propane to provide a product stream comprising propane, propene and hydrogen; separation steps separating the product stream into a stream consisting essentially of hydrogen, a stream enriched in propane and a stream enriched in propene; a step of reacting the stream consisting essentially of hydrogen with oxygen to provide a stream comprising hydrogen peroxide; a step of reacting the stream enriched in propene with the stream comprising hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a catalyst mixture comprising a phase transfer catalyst and a heteropolytungstate in a reaction mixture with two liquid phases; and steps of separating the reaction mixture of the propene oxidation into an aqueous phase and an organic phase, recycling the organic phase to the propene oxidation and separating 1,2-propanediol from the aqueous phase.

    An integrated process for making propene oxide and an alkyl tert-butyl ether comprises dehydrogenating a feed stream comprising iso-butane to provide a stream comprising iso-butene and hydrogen and separating this stream into a stream consisting essentially of hydrogen and a stream comprising iso-butene; reacting a part or all of the stream comprising iso-butene with an alkanol in the presence of a solid acid catalyst to provide an alkyl tert-butyl ether; reacting a part or all of the stream consisting essentially of hydrogen with oxygen, providing a stream comprising hydrogen peroxide; and reacting a part or all of the stream comprising hydrogen peroxide with propene in the presence of an epoxidation catalyst to provide propene oxide.
