Cette propriété peut s'utiliser afin de promouvoir la croissance d'animaux destinés à la consommation, de manière à rendre plus efficace la production de viande comestible, ainsi que chez l'homme, afin d'accroître la stature d'individus atteints d'un manque de sécrétion normale d'hormone de croissance naturelle.
